Welcome to the Girls That ADHD blog: a space for honest, practical and neuro-affirming conversations about ADHD, identity, burnout, relationships, emotional regulation and the very messy business of being a human with a very busy brain.
Here, you’ll find ADHD education that doesn’t shame you, therapy-informed tools that actually make sense in real life, and reflections for the late-diagnosed, self-diagnosed, questioning, chronically overwhelmed and deeply capable people who are tired of being told to “just try harder.”
I’m Sayaka, a counsellor, ADHD coach and founder of Girls That ADHD. I support neurodivergent adults through online counselling, ADHD coaching, group programs and resources designed to help you understand your brain, build systems that fit your life, and stop treating yourself like a broken productivity machine.
If you’ve ever thought, “I know what I need to do, so why can’t I do it?” you’re in the right place.
This blog is for the people who have spent years feeling like life is somehow harder than it “should” be.
Maybe you’re constantly overwhelmed, even when nothing looks that dramatic from the outside. Maybe you can start things in a burst of motivation, then lose steam the second the novelty wears off. Maybe you’re emotionally exhausted from masking, overthinking, people-pleasing, procrastinating, spiralling, recovering, and then doing the whole thing again next week. Very glamorous. Very sustainable. Obviously.
The Girls That ADHD blog is here to help you make sense of those patterns with more compassion, more clarity and more practical tools.
You’ll find articles on ADHD, executive dysfunction, emotional regulation, burnout, relationships, identity, culture, self-trust and building a life that actually works with your brain.
Hi, I’m Sayaka! I’m a counsellor, ADHD and Autism coach, Senior Counsellor and Sydney Lead at Umeed Psychology, and the founder of Girls That ADHD.
I work with neurodivergent adults who are often navigating ADHD and/or Autism, burnout, emotional overwhelm, identity questions, relationships, family dynamics, perfectionism, people-pleasing and the quiet grief of feeling like they’ve spent years being misunderstood.
My approach is neuro-affirming, trauma-informed, culturally responsive and practical. That means I care about the tools, but I also care about the context.
Your ADHD doesn’t exist separately from your culture, family, work, relationships, body, history, values or sense of belonging. So the support shouldn’t either.
Through therapy, ADHD coaching, group programs and resources, I help people move from: “What is wrong with me?”
to: “Oh. This makes sense. Now what can we do with it?”
The Girls That ADHD blog brings together counselling, ADHD coaching, psychoeducation, lived experience and real-world strategies for people who want to understand their brains without shame and build lives that feel more sustainable, connected and true to them.
Reading about ADHD can be deeply validating. Sometimes one sentence can make your whole life make sense.
But insight alone doesn’t always change the pattern.
You might understand your ADHD and still feel stuck in the same cycles: procrastination, overwhelm, burnout, emotional spirals, avoidance, overcommitting, under-resting and then wondering why you’re exhausted.
That’s where support can help.
I offer online counselling and ADHD coaching for adults across Australia. Sessions can help you understand your patterns, reduce shame and build practical strategies that fit your actual life.
Together, we might work on:
understanding your ADHD and executive functioning patterns
building ADHD-friendly routines and systems
managing emotional overwhelm and rejection sensitivity
recovering from burnout and chronic self-pressure
navigating relationships, boundaries and communication
exploring identity, culture, family dynamics and belonging
creating practical strategies for work, study, creativity and everyday life
building self-trust after years of feeling inconsistent or “behind”
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you reach out. That’s literally the point of support - to help guide your next best step.
Book a free 15-minute consult to ask questions, share what’s been going on and figure out whether counselling, ADHD coaching, Focus Forward or another resource is the best fit for you.

Join the Girls That ADHD mailing list for ADHD-friendly tools, reflections, resources, podcast updates and gentle reminders that you’re not lazy, dramatic or failing at being a person.
You’ll get practical support for executive dysfunction, emotional regulation, burnout, routines, self-trust and navigating life with a brain that does not always respond well to “just make a list.”
Because, respectfully, if lists alone fixed ADHD, we’d all be cured by now.
